Quality Assurance

Promising Egypt Consulting is committed to ensuring the highest quality standards in field data collection through:

  • • A detailed explanation of research questionnaires to ensure a clear understanding of the content.
    • Role-playing exercises to enhance interview skills.
    • Providing background information on the project and the importance of impact assessment in collaboration with research teams.
    • Training on using SurveyCTO for data collection.
    • Instruction on research participant protection principles in accordance with IRB guidelines to ensure ethical compliance.
    • Clarifying essential rules on what to do and what to avoid during fieldwork.
    • Explaining communication protocols during fieldwork to ensure effective coordination.
    • Conducting field reviews to verify data accuracy and reliability.
    • Guiding researchers on how to handle and report field challenges.
    • Adhering to the minimum core standards of promising Egypt Consulting, derived from J-PAL/IPA standards.
    • Ensuring the confidentiality of community information during fieldwork, in compliance with IRB guidelines and the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

  • • Conducting data collection using tablets or modern devices suitable for the applications used in data gathering.
    • Implementing strict field supervision over research teams during fieldwork.
    • Conducting regular field visits by the fieldwork coordinator and the supervisory team at all research stages.
    • Maintaining continuous communication between research and field teams to ensure smooth workflow.
    • Applying a rigorous quality control system through periodic reviews conducted by quality officers.
    • Providing backup paper questionnaires for use in case of tablet malfunctions, with researchers required to enter the data electronically once the issue is resolved. Each researcher is also provided with a backup power bank to ensure uninterrupted work.
    • Recording portions of interviews, in coordination with the research team, to ensure that interviews are conducted correctly. A weekly quality report is prepared, highlighting each researcher’s performance and any questionnaires that require revision.
    • Conducting additional field reviews, with each supervisor required to inspect at least 20% of the questionnaires collected by their team.
    • Implementing a three-level quality control system, including: (1) supervisor reviews, (2) quality checks, and (3) review of audio recordings, to ensure maximum data accuracy.
    • Setting minimum and maximum daily survey limits per researcher, based on pilot phase results, to prevent rushed data collection aimed at increasing financial incentives. Incentives are linked to data quality rather than quantity.
    • Implementing a performance-based payment system, where compensation is divided into two parts: a fixed base salary not exceeding 50%, and the remaining portion based on data quality. Any detected fraud or data manipulation results in the immediate dismissal of both the field researcher and the responsible supervisor.

This is ensured while adhering to any additional quality standards required by partner organizations in field research management.
